A Blog is Man's Second Best Friend

18 Kicks So Far
"Dude I am not a writer, can't write for nuts. What will I freaking write about......................."

This is what I told my friend around 6 months from now, before I started my blog and here I am writing my 50th blog post.

I was not really very sure what I wanted to write about in the 50th post. I could have told you my journey till now or from where the Idea about this blog came or what all I am doing now days or about my journey till the blog. And then I thought why should I write about so many different posts in one post :) I know you would love to know about me (I am a little self obsessed) and you will get to know about me but thats a lot of topics later.
Lets get on with the post now...

Something that you can expect though is me being much much more active on my social networking sites. Anyone who wants to connect to me there just follow the link. Me on facebook, Me on twitter

Also some of you might have noticed your comments are no longer called comments, they are called Kicks, you will know by the end of the post why it is so.

And now back to the important things in life...

I wanted to tell you all about something me and Parv discussed while coming back from the bloggers' meet (still have the hangover).

While we didn't discuss anything about blogging at the meet, me and Parv on our way back discussed why we blog. An interesting thing that we both sort of agreed on was the fact that when a person becomes addicted to blogging, the blog is no longer remain a thing that you just created on the net to write something.

It becomes a medium to convey your thoughts to the world and once you get readers and comments, it starts talking back to you. It becomes like a pet you come back to everyday. You look after it everyday, you feel bad when you don't feed (write something on it) it on a regular basis and it feels bad when you don't take it for a walk (to other blogs).

Coincidentally on the night before the meet I had seen this amazing movie called Marley and Me. An awesome story of a couple and their dog (the dog was the real hero even though he just acted like a normal dog)...... and this is what inspired the topic and the lines below.....

Yess!!! A blog is man's second best friend.... of course the First best friend is a dog :)

"A blog has no use for fancy cars (unless your blog is about cars) or big homes (unless your blog is about architecture) or designer clothes (only if you write about fashion). Status symbols means nothing to him. Even a normal really slow P3 comp will do just fine. A blog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside (what they write about). A blog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart (and a little bit of time) and he will give you his. "

Cheers... Thank you for reading whatever I throw at you and giving me a kick(pun intended) every time you are here....

JAB WE (BLOGGERS) MET

10 Kicks So Far
Now, I have to tell you this is the first time in my life that I have felt so very comfortable with complete strangers. I was actually talking to them like buddies that I had known for a long time. We actually made CCD into a place where you can talk out loud and laughed out louder and sit for hours after paying the check :). I can really go on and on and on about this meet cause it was that (In the words of Barney Stinson)...... wait for it.... hold on..... here it comes...... LEGENDARY......

Now lets take a closer look at them...........

let me tell you a bit about them In the same order as their pics appeard on the top....

Kaddu... "The common link"...Yes she was the one who connected us all. Proud to be from Patna, great to talk to, a person I think you can never really feel bored with and ya before I forget... she loves to take initiatives. :).. I am hoping that she will send me her pic as I didn't get it till now.
Parv... Mr. "I like writing poems but I am not a poet."... I still smile every time I pronounce your name.. :) (I know i can be a bit of an a** at times). Don't go by the looks. He only looks a calm and quiet guy.
Ajay... Mr. "Been there.. done that"... OMG!!! This guy has done it all. Played and lost 200 cricket matches against the same team. Worked as an IT professional and working as a teacher now. Wants to get into media, has made a documentary... hell he even knows horse riding. :)
Nikita... The "Psycho"-logist... Be careful of what you talk to her about. Has a sharp memory as she remembers the whole conversation you would have had, would have made mental notes of it and by some calculation would even tell you if you have a girl friend or not. :)
Prabhjot... Mr. "Bujho To Jaanu" (Guess what I am thinking, if you can)/ Mr. "Pin drop silence"... Would love to hear this guy talk, really I would. Thank god he writes a blog. I am guessing that he wouldn't want his pic on blog as Kaddu's didn't have one either. Still its him just a bit distorted.

And finally yours truly...
Trying to avoid the light from reflecting in order to get a good pic. :)

What the Future Holds...

7 Kicks So Far
Well we had a blogger's meet at Delhi today... It was great fun and I had a a blast... but more on that in the next post. As for today here goes...

“When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let
it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.”

Today morning I came across on a very interesting post on the blog My Perspective. Now, this was my first visit to this blog and I came across something really interesting. The latest post was about a very interesting topic called Managing Tomorrow and like many other things in life this weird question started a debate in my brains. Let me warn you that when this happens things becomes very complicated and I start asking questions and answering them on my own. But its really very interesting....

So, the question was if anyone can manage tomorrow or not. The author said that we cannot. We can try and have a good present and hope for a better tomorrow. I have to say somewhere in my mind or heart I agree with him.

Yes, we don't have control on the future but still we plan for them. Then it occurred to me that planning is the first step of management (according to a text book of mine). Now, really not many of us live in the moment and thus we think about what has happened and plan for what has to happen. Thus, this would also really mean that we can manage our future.
But how could this be the end of the thought process :)

Today while talking to Kaddu at the meet, she told me something really great. She told me that
"Life is something that happens while we are busy making some other
plans."

Heavy? actually not very. I almost agree with this, considering my own life.

This made me think that if we cannot make a plan for life then who so ever says that they don't live in the moment don't know the fact that no matter what they do, they do in fact live in, on, by and for the moment cause nothing and anything they do can help them know what the future holds for them. After pondering about it again and again, I think.....

May be the fact is that we can manage the future but cannot control it? Is there a difference between controlling the future and managing it.... I don't really know. If you manage something can you control it as well.
May be I will keep this topic for another debate.... What say you?????

Challenge For All Of You

9 Kicks So Far
Well its that time of the week again when I stopped at Small Footprints and saw his challenge. I am always eager to help with what ever bit I can do for my environment but this time the challenge is a bit tricky. This weeks challenge said:

For one full day this week, don't use (or ride in) a car. That's right ... leave the car at home and either walk, ride a bicycle or take public transportation (or even ... stay home). One full day ... 24 hours ... no car.

OR ... if you are already car free, write a post about not using a car. Include such topics as how to make it work, drawbacks and solutions, and why it's better for the environment.

Now, anyone who is capable of doing this, please take up this challenge. Walk, cycle or use public transport if possible.

While I would love to do this, it is really next to impossible for me to do this as my office is at a bit of distance from my house and the situation of public transport is really bad. The only other way would be to take a cycle rickshaw. I have a friend also dependent on me for going to office. But I still have something for all of you. I have this challenge a bit modified for people like me.

If you go to an office and have someone from your locality going to the same office or going to an office in the same locality please pool in
and
Every time you stop at a red light for more than 20 seconds, Turn off your car.

Once again the source of my inspiration for every environment related bit is small footprints, this is not my idea its his challenge a bit modified.
Come on, Lets change the world....
